Freedom Service Dogs, (FSD), a Colorado-based non-profit that specially trains dogs rescued from shelters and pairs them with disabled service members, for its first ever adoption event on Saturday, November 21st, 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Aspen Grove Veterinary Care, 2633 S. College Ave in Fort Collins, CO.
FSD dogs have gone through various degrees of service dog training, but may not have the temperament for full-service dog certification or may be timid or easily distracted, however are still excellent and well-behaved family companions.
All FSD dogs are spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations, including distemper combo, kennel cough, and rabies, unless otherwise noted, and have been identified with a microchip ID. Most dogs have also had eye examinations and many have had hip, shoulder, and elbow X-rays. FSD requires that interested parties complete an adoption application, accompanied by a minimum adoption donation of $200-$300 to help recover a portion of the medical and evaluation expense incurred with each dog.
For additional information on the adoption event, please call 303-922-6231, visit their website or become a fan on facebook or check out their YouTube channel.
Freedom Service Dogs, Inc., can always use donations, as seen in this recent story on 9news. Watch the story and then visit the FSD website to learn how you can help.
