The Freedom Train is a mode of free, volunteer-based transportation designed to rescue animals from high kill shelters and abusive/neglectful situations, and transport them to screened and approved rescues and forever homes. The Freedom Train includes a large network of volunteers who give their time and money in order to see the animals reach their destinations.
The Freedom Train is the passion of Rhonda and is inspired by her soulmate Charlie, an awkward, chunky cocker mix, who she lost Nov. 19, 2005. She then developed a relationship with the local shelter director where she had adopted Charlie ten years earlier, and was able to start pulling animals from there and finding rescues to take them.
Freedom Train Animal Rescue Transports presents the “BLUE SUEDE PAWS TOUR” to raise awareness and funds to benefit the Anderson County Animal Shelter and the Freedom Train. The event is July 25, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. at Anderson County Regional Airport, Anderson, SC. and will include special guests, the Duke of Elvis, Steve Cates Photobucket and pilots from Animal Rescue Flights.
