Ritchy gets a second chance

Ritchy, an 11-week-old Golden Retriever-Labrador mix, was thrown by her previous owner out of a speeding pickup truck on a highway near Neosho, Missouri when she was just seven weeks old. A bystander who brought the pup to a nearby veterinary clinic was not in a position to keep her or pay for her medical bills.
So the American Humane Association awarded a Second Chance Grant of $200 to cover her treatment. The Coalition for Animal Rescue & Education (CARE) in Hillsboro, Missouri is currently taking care of her to help get her ready for adoption.
The Second Chance Fund is one way American Humane works to support member organizations in their vital work. By providing financial assistance, in select cases, to animal welfare organizations responsible for the temporary care of animals as they are prepared for adoption into permanent, loving homes, the program provides animal victims of abuse or neglect with a second chance at life.
