Be Kind to Animals Week – May 3-9

05012009
American Humane’s Be Kind to Animals Week has been around since 1915 and this year is May 3-9. The annual event commemorates the role animals play in our lives, promotes ways to treat them humanely, and encourage others to do the same.

Be Kind to Animals Week is celebrated with shelter information and resources, special American Humane merchandise, and the annual Be Kind to Animals Kid Contest that recognizes children who go above and beyond to create a better world for animals. Check out the 2008 winners.

And while Be Kind to Animals Week is celebrated only once a year, there are ways people can be kind to animals every day. One way you can help is to take care of your pet by keeping your animal’s vaccinations up-to-date and making sure he’s wearing proper identification.
