Saving Shelter Pets (SSP) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization. They facilitate rescues from high-kill animal shelters and promote spay & neuter, in an effort to give all pets the chance at life they truly deserve. SSP is a small, all-volunteer organization with supporters and volunteers located throughout the country. They rely solely on donations to continue our rescue and spay/neuter efforts.

What They Do

1. Rescue & Transport focuses on saving cats and dogs from high-kill shelters in the Southeastern US and moving them to safe, no-kill rescues in the Northeast. All animals receive full medical care and are quarantined at a boarding facility or in foster care until they are healthy to travel.

2. Puppy Promises rescues puppies and spays their mother to help reduce pet overpopulation.

3. Bernies Buddies program helps to treat heartworm positive dogs that are saved through their Rescue & Transport program.

4. Spay & Neuter program offers financial assistance to low-income pet owners in several Ohio and Georgia counties.

How You Can Help

Saving Shelter Pets Spring Auction starts in less than two weeks. This is a great opportunity for you to help SSP donating in-kind donations to add to their online auction catalog – new or gently used household items, artist or artisan creations, articles of sale from your business, gift cards or certificates, etc.
