031020093
Kenai, a 14-year-old Bernese mountain dog mix from Erie, CO, will be honored tomorrow by the American Humane Association for saving nine people and four other dogs from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Kenai started barking and crying at 4 a.m. Sunday, waking her owners, who were staying in a Western Slope home during a family-and-friends getaway weekend.

The American Humane Association will present the “Golden Paw” award to Kenai and her owners. The award honors the dog’s “outstanding actions and her instinct to help those in need.”
